Bhopal got an attraction in the Indian newspaper when Indian railway
announced RaniKamlapati station will be
first Indian station which will be redeveloped with the world class facility.
Indian railway is world largest train network.
It manages the fourth largest and complex railway network in the world
by size, with 67,368-kilometre route. Indian Railway runs more than 20,000
passenger trains daily, on both long-distance and suburban routes, from 7,349
stations across India and among 7,439 stations Indian railway choose Habibganj
first station then its really proud and exiting moment. Habibganj station is
substation in the BHEL township in the
city of Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh). This is second busiest station in the city
after the Bhopal Junction. Habibganj means The Lovely City. This name was given
by the Begum of Bhopal
Habibganj is India's First ISO 9001 certified railway
station with stoppage and headquarters of many trains. The station is the
headquarters of the famous Shaan - E - Bhopal Express (The pride of Bhopal),
India's first ISO:9001:2000 certified train. Distance between Bhopal and
Habibganj is 6 KM. Habibganj railway station (Station Code: HBJ) part of the
West Central Railway. Benefit of developing this station on world class level its geographical location in India.This is a center station of Indian railway
and many train passed from here and it connects to many city.
Habibganj
station is the first railway station to be redeveloped through public private
partnership mode under the station redevelopment program of Indian Railways.
Total Estimated cost of works towards station redevelopment is Rs 100 Cr and
estimated cost towards commercial development is approx. Rs 350. Cr. This
project going to complete by Bhopal known developer M/s Bansal Construction
Works Pvt. Ltd.
World class facility of Rani Kamlapati(Habibganj) station are (Like Airport)

class passenger amenities, facilities and services.

- The new look of station is cover
by glass and it will look dome-like structure ..
- After the redevelopment, the
railway station will become a “green building” with LED lighting and
also, waste water will be treated for reuse.
- The new station is being provided
with cafeterias and food plaza. Also, a plush waiting lounge is being
developed for passengers.
- Other than ‘holding areas’ for
passengers at every platform, the national transporter is also making
an exit underpass for passengers de-boarding trains. This is being done in
order to decongest the platforms.
- The station is being redeveloped
by Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC) along with
a private firm, the Bansal Group.
- Interestingly, it will become the
first railway station in the country to be redeveloped under the PPP
(Public-Private Partnership) model.
- Outside the station, commercial
establishments, a bus terminal, office lobbies as well as service
apartments will be there on the western side.
- On the other hand, the eastern
side, outside the station, will have hotels, hospitals, spas and a convention
center.
- For the overall revamp of the Rani Kamlapati(Habibganj) railway station, Rs 450 crore is being spent, out of which the
cost of station redevelopment is around Rs 100 crore and the cost of
commercial development is around Rs 350 crore.
Railway minister Piyush Goyal :
“I am satisfied with the pace of works, especially
the two subways that have come up, to turn Rani Kamlapati (Habibganj) station into a model one
for the country. The redeveloped station will come up soon,” Goyal told
reporters while inspecting the station. “Minister Piyush Goyal expressed
satisfaction over the works. He said that all the stations in the country will
be developed,” West Central Railway (WCR) Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO)
Priyanka Dixit told PTI. She said that the railways plan to develop 400 stations
into world-class ones.
